Dear Charles,
Would you please explain the reason for changing the line length to 32. BTW, when will you release the RF handbook. I am looking forward to testing the new features of 9.2.5.

Hi Steve,
The line length change was partially inspired by discussions I've had with Roger (the creator of Glypher), and partially based on recent discussions in #retro on irc.freenode.net. Basically, shorter lines encourage shorter definitions, helping to encourage better factoring of words. From a readability standpoint, shorter lines also make sense (which is why newspapers, magazines, etc tend to use multiple narrow columns).
After Roger first mentioned how he had reformatted blocks in his new forth, I started experimenting with narrow column widths. I settled on 32x16 after about a week. Overall it feels more comfortable to me now than the longer widths did. (In fact, I am using narrower columns even when working with normal files now)
On to the RF handbook; hopefully early next week. I plan to finish the current wordlist for the help system this week, then I should be able to get the rest of the handbook up to speed pretty quickly. I may even have a mostly finished draft by Saturday; assuming that the rest of my work-week doesn't leave me too tired to do anything when I get home.
